The fastest step after the longest ones
After weeks of customs, Datenblatt and Vollabnahme — this takes 15 minutes. Check24↗ or Verivox↗, enter the VIN, choose a policy, receive the eVB number.
Everything else about no-claims classes, tariff comparison and what information the insurer needs is covered in the EU route’s eVB-Nummer step.
I sorted the insurance on my phone in the TÜV waiting room while the inspector was writing up the Einzelgenehmigung. By the time I walked out, the eVB code was already in my SMS inbox.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Should I insure the car before or after the Vollabnahme?▾
After. If the inspection fails or modifications are needed, you'd have a policy for an unregistered vehicle. Once the Einzelgenehmigung is issued, take out the policy immediately.
What if the insurer can't find my car model?▾
Use a specialist insurer for import vehicles, or contact a local insurance broker (Versicherungsmakler). With the Einzelgenehmigung § 21 and Datenblatt, you have all the technical data insurers need.
