WHAT TO DO

Do not skip the bonuses: many funds pay €50–150 a year for fitness and check-ups — a few taps in the app, and the switch pays off twice.

👨🏻‍💻
Max recommends:

I redeemed the old insurer bonus points a month before leaving — they would have expired. I showed the new card to my employer at once so contributions were correct.

Lea recommends:

If you are in a chronic-care programme (diabetes, asthma), re-enrol at the new insurer at your first doctor visit: a gap can cost co-payments and the loss of treatment coordination.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What to do right after switching?

Wait for the new insurance card, report the new insurer number to your employer and doctors, transfer current referrals and prescriptions. Until the new card arrives the old one usually still works.

Do bonuses and chronic-care programmes follow me?

Bonus points do not transfer — redeem them at the old insurer before leaving. Chronic-care programmes are re-enrolled at the new insurer; ask your doctor to re-enrol so there is no gap.

What about the old card?

It is invalid from the switch date — destroy it. No need to tell doctors: the card is read at each visit.

Does my family switch automatically?

Family-insured members (non-earning partner, children) move with you — the new fund enrols them on your application.
