Max recommends:

I set up the first payout on arrival day: the blocked account transfers to a German Girokonto — you need one in week one.

Renewing with the same funding condition? Top up in advance: the immigration office wants to see the next 12 months, not last year leftovers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What about the account once my permit allows work? ▾

When funding is no longer a permit condition: close it by request, transfer the rest to your Girokonto. Do not pay fees longer than necessary.

Can I withdraw more than 992 € a month? ▾

Only unspent remainders from previous months. Beyond that the account releases nothing — that is the blocking, and the argument for the authorities.

Can I withdraw more in an emergency? ▾

No — that is the point of the block: the monthly cap protects your own year of funding. Anything above is only available if you deposited MORE than the required amount. ⚠️ The size of the cap depends on your category: €992/month for students (€11,904 a year), but €1,091/month (€13,092) if you are still looking for a study place, attending a Studienkolleg, or entering on the Chancenkarte. What counts is the figure stated in your provider’s confirmation.

Found a job — do I still need it? ▾

With a work permit the requirement lapses: your contract proves the income. The account is closed on request; the rest flows to your Girokonto.
