When exactly does training end? ▾
The training relationship ends when the training period expires. Where the final examination is passed earlier, it ends when the examination board announces the result — so it can finish sooner than the contract states.
What if the exam is failed? ▾
The relationship extends, at the trainee request, until the next possible resit, by a maximum of one year. The key word is request: the extension does not happen automatically and must be declared.
Can I leave during probation? ▾
During probation the relationship may be terminated at any time without notice. That applies to both sides and requires no reasons — which is precisely what distinguishes probation from the period after it.
And after probation? ▾
Then termination is possible only for good cause without notice, or by the trainee on four weeks notice where they are giving up the training or wish to train for a different occupation. Termination must be in writing and, in those cases, state the reasons; electronic form is excluded.
