This profession is not regulated. There is no authority that must recognise your degree and no procedure you must complete. Hiring is decided by the employer alone.
For IT professions Germany has no recognition procedure, because none is needed: the profession is not regulated, there is no competent authority and no decision you could obtain. Waiting for an office here means waiting for something that will not come.

What to do
- Look up your university and degree in anabin. H+ means recognised — the printout normally satisfies employers and the immigration office.
- If the university is missing or shows H+/-: a ZAB statement of comparability for €208. For the Blue Card the ZAB issues it in two weeks instead of three months.
- With no degree at all: for the Blue Card in IT, several years of relevant professional experience have counted instead of a degree since 2023.
- Apply for jobs while the paperwork is in transit. Nothing on this path requires you to finish first.
Where people get stuck
The most expensive mistake is the order: recognition first, job search second. For IT the reverse is right. And if a document is needed after all, order the ZAB statement in parallel with the search — not after the offer, because three months of waiting can undo an offer.
If you still need to immigrate
For a visa or the Blue Card a recognised or comparable higher-education degree is enough (§ 18 (3) no. 2 AufenthG) — in practice anabin H+ or a ZAB statement. For the Blue Card the ZAB issues the statement in two weeks instead of three months.
