The benefit is a legal relationship, not charity: decisions get read, objections get written, and social counselling (Caritas, Diakonie, AWO) is free. Use all three.
Your Rights: Rent, Side Income, Appeals

I review every decision for 15 minutes with a cheat sheet: standard rate, rent, income deductions. The error came in the second one: the side-job allowance was missing — the objection recovered 143 € for two months.
Affordable help comes from the VdK and SoVD associations: membership costs little and their lawyers argue with Jobcenters daily. Objecting with an association behind you is a different conversation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A sanction cut my payment — is that legal? ▾
The limits are tight: at most 30 percent of the standard rate, housing stays untouched. Have every sanction checked via objection — free, and the reversal rate is high.
The Jobcenter sends me to pointless courses — must I go? ▾
Reasonable offers yes; against clearly pointless ones a written justification works: your qualification, search plan, a counter-proposal. Document the dialogue — it carries a later objection.
My rent is above the reasonable level — forced move? ▾
Not immediately: usually the actual rent is paid for six months with a cost-reduction request. A required move follows only a written procedure; in tight markets the local limits are often contestable.
Must I accept any job? ▾
Reasonableness is broader than under ALG I but has limits: health, childcare under 3, immoral conditions. Groundless refusals cut the benefit in steps (10–30 percent).
