Must the company release me for school? ▾
Yes, the law lists the cases expressly: for attending vocational school lessons and for taking part in examinations and training measures which must be carried out outside the training establishment under legal or contractual provisions.
Can I be rostered before early lessons? ▾
No. Training companies may not employ trainees before vocational school lessons that begin before 9 am. It is one of the most concrete rules in the statute and among the most frequently ignored in practice.
What applies on days with long lessons? ▾
The law provides for release on a school day with more than five lessons of at least 45 minutes each, once a week. Separately it covers school weeks with scheduled block teaching of at least 25 hours over at least five days.
Whom do I approach about breaches? ▾
The first address is the competent chamber, which keeps the register of training relationships and supervises how training is carried out. It reaches the company fastest, and that route needs neither lawyer nor court.
