Do I need to notify the chamber and the accident insurer separately? ▾
As a rule no: the law provides for regular transfer of the notification data to the entitled recipients — among them the chamber of industry and commerce and the statutory accident insurance body, which passes it to the competent trade association. Checking is still worth it, because the contributions are your liability.
What does deregistration cost? ▾
The procedure is cheap or free in most municipalities, unlike registration. The municipality sets the fee, so it varies from town to town and is worth asking about beforehand.
What do I do with the confirmation? ▾
Keep it and keep it handy. It is how you prove the cessation date to your bank, health insurer, chamber and landlord. It is also needed if any of them keeps sending invoices.
Can I deregister retrospectively? ▾
The notification follows the actual cessation and must state the real date. A large gap between the fact and the notice prompts queries and lets contributions run on through the interval.
